Lawrence Mendez was saved at the age of 14 on a street corner in the city of Detroit, Michigan. In 1989, he surrendered to preach while attending a fundamentalist conference at Midwestern Baptist College. In 1991, while still in college, Brother Mendez reorganized and reopened a disbanded church in the city of Detroit. Dr. Mendez has been pastor of the Open Door Baptist Church for more than twenty years. He is widely used of God in meetings across the country. He is known both near and far for his firm stand upon the King James Bible, his Biblical standards of separation, and for his fiery preaching.
